Almost 14,000 new cases of COVID-19 detected in Russia per day

In Russia, 2,506 people with coronavirus were hospitalized per day. Such data are provided by the federal operational headquarters to combat the spread of COVID-19.

An increase in hospitalizations was detected in 78 regions, a decrease was recorded in five regions, and in two subjects of the Russian Federation the situation has not changed.

As of October 11, 13,970 infected have been detected over the past day. At the same time, 31,509 patients recovered. 109 people died.

Earlier, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Gennady Onishchenko said that a new strain of coronavirus with altered properties may appear. He noted that the prognosis for mutations and the emergence of new strains is favorable, but «nothing is ruled out.»
