In Russia, 10,067 new cases of COVID-19 were registered over the past day, the headquarters for combating the spread of infection said.

1,565 people were taken to hospitals, which is 1.1% less than the day before. At the same time, more than 18,000 patients recovered, 90 died. In the whole country, an increase in hospitalizations was noted in 37 regions, a decrease in 42.

The largest number of cases was recorded in Moscow — 711, followed by the Sverdlovsk region — 696, in third place — St. Petersburg, where 574 cases of coronavirus infection were detected.

Earlier, the World Health Organization reported that in the week from October 10 to October 17, more than 2.9 million people were infected with the coronavirus on the planet, more than eight thousand people died. At the same time, the number of infections decreased by 6% compared to the past seven days, and the number of deaths by 17%.
