The rolling snoring that comes from the bedroom at night brings inconvenience and problems not only to the family — it is simply impossible to sleep — but also to the snorer himself. Biting jokes and complaints from a bed partner in this case are the lesser evil. The formation of snoring is a complex medical problem with its own causes, prognosis and consequences. Experts say that you can’t just give up on such a problem, move to sleep in solitude or buy earplugs for your partner, you need expert advice and timely treatment.
Snoring: why is it so dangerous?
Snoring is dangerous for both children and adults. If a child snores, the risk of growth and development disorders, frequent illnesses increases significantly. In adults, the risks of heart attacks and strokes, lack of sleep and increased nervousness (and the whole family) are significantly increased.
But in the formation of such an ailment, it is forbidden to look for solutions in the advice of alternative medicine or in the “magic” methods offered by the Internet. Most of these methods are far from safe and can cause complications.
The only correct treatment option will be consultation and treatment with a somnologist, ENT and neurologist. Sometimes surgeons can be included in the treatment process, selecting individual therapy.

The entire treatment regimen will depend on the cause of snoring. But experts say that for a successful cure, the direct participation of the patient himself is necessary, without his desire and active participation it will not be possible to achieve positive results.
General recommendations: controls excess weight
Excess weight is one of the causes of snoring, such unpleasant symptoms are formed due to the deposition of adipose tissue on the face and neck. There is an opinion that every 10% of excess weight can double the snoring. Because of this, the likelihood of developing sleep apnea syndrome significantly increases, in which there may be a violation or complete (short-term) cessation of breathing during sleep.
Sleep apnea is the cause of hypoxia of the tissues of the brain and body, while sleep is also disturbed, and efficiency is reduced. Excess weight and sleep apnea can cause high blood pressure, regular headaches and reduced performance.
Therefore, in the formation of snoring, doctors recommended to evaluate and control body weight, and if there is excess weight, it is necessary to take measures to eliminate it. Doctors note that lean people who control their weight are about 20% less likely to snore. Even if snoring is formed, it is not so pronounced.
But what about bad habits?
Bad habits can also cause snoring. A long history of smoking, regular stay in smoky and smoky rooms is one of the causes of inflammation of the larynx and pharynx. Inflammation causes swelling and a decrease in the tone of the smooth muscles of the respiratory organs, which narrows the glottis. This is how bad habits provoke snoring.

Sometimes the causes of snoring are hidden in taking certain medications or in constant stress. Tranquilizers, sleeping pills can cause snoring and even sleep apnea.
If it was noticed that snoring appeared after taking the drugs, then it is necessary to discuss the possible change of drugs or even complete cancellation.

Often, snoring is formed due to problems with the nose, allergies, runny nose and nasal congestion at night. A deviated septum is one of the most common and most obvious causes of snoring.
With nasal congestion, for example, during colds or inflammatory diseases of the sinuses, snoring can be treated with special drops that the doctor will prescribe.
But you can use such drops only for a short time, otherwise they are addictive and, at best, will stop helping. Treatment of a runny nose, even if it is protracted, should be discussed with doctors.
If breathing through the nose is difficult at night, the reason may lie precisely in the allergens contained in the feathers of the pillow, or the nasal mucosa is dry due to the dry air in the room. In order to get rid of unpleasant symptoms, it is enough just to change bedding, carry out wet cleaning in the room and put on a humidifier.
What will the doctor advise?
All patients who suffer from snoring develop swelling of the tissues of the throat, dryness in the mouth, itching in the throat, and the reason for this is vibrational movements during snoring, mouth breathing.
